About Us Farming Roots
Banner Flower Farm started selling cut flowers from their flower wagon in front of their home. The wheels are from an old vegetable cart which Jim found out in the pasture. The flower wagon was made as a gift to his wife.
We dedicate our work on the flower farm to our Families, Our Ancestors, for it is because of them -- many of them Farmers that we are here today, and without their wisdom, raw determination, strength, persistence, love and greatness of heart, mind, and spirit, we could not have accomplished these many things.

Jim's paternal grandfather immigrated to America from Germany. He settled and began farming in Mendon, Michigan where his wife had many relatives. Jim lived on a farm in Scotts, Michigan from the age of 4 until he was 17 years old. He learned many of the sustainable farming practices of the day. These were the days before large corporated farmers relied heavily on chemicals for farming. Many of Jim's learned farming practices are used today on our flower farm.
Jim's maternal grandmothers' family immigrated to America from the United Kingdom in the early 1700's, and settled in the upper New York, Woodstock/Kingston area. In the 1900's some of the family relocated to Port Huron, Michigan. Jim's mother is well remembered for her vegetable gardens and love of flowers.
